DMJM Aviation Receives Top Honor from CMAA
DMJM Aviation receives top honor for construction management at DEN
For our role in the completion of Denver International Airport’s sixth runway, 16R-34L, DMJM Aviation recently received the Construction Management Association of America’s prestigious 2004 Construction Management Project Achievement Award.
As construction manager responsible for construction of the longest commercial runway in North America, DMJM Aviation acted as the airport’s representative and received praise for being a key factor in the success of the project, which was completed 40 days ahead of schedule.
Accepting the award, during an industry recognition dinner in San Antonio, was former DMJM Aviation President Ed Sanii and Ed Currier, representing the City and County of Denver. DMJM Aviation Associate Vice President Mark Kelley and Project Manager Brooks Allshouse also attended.
“It was a phenomenal success story,” said Brooks. “It may be a bit of a cliché, but the key to our success was teamwork.”
Measuring 16,000 feet in length, or just over 3 miles long, Runway 16R-34L provides unrestricted global access by allowing fully loaded jumbo jets to take off in Denver’s mile-high altitude during the summer months. Additionally, the runway is also equipped to accommodate the new generation of large aircraft, including the Airbus A-380.
