At Denver International Airport (DIA), DMJM Aviation implemented an extensive pavement inspection and evaluation program covering an estimated 170,000 concrete slabs of pavement. DMJM Aviation’s Systems Engineering Division developed GIS-based tools and routines required to support the field data collection on each TabletPC, and also the tools, procedures, and routines required to keep all of the independent data collection units synchronized appropriately with a master data repository.
In order to display, analyze, and share all of the information collected during the pavement evaluation, DMJM Aviation implemented a web-based GIS application. The application includes an Oracle 10g R2 data repository on a Linux server, a remote ArcSDE 9.2 installation that communicates with the Linux repository, an ArcGIS Server 9.2 implementation with services created for pavement information and raster information, and an ASP.NET web application that uses the ESRI ArcGIS 9.2 API for .NET.
Future steps considered include expanding the application to support routine data collected about pavement repairs and other field maintenance between major evaluation efforts.
