Advanced Planning for Master Plan Implementation

DMJM Aviation/DMJM H+N are currently providing advanced planning for implementation the largest Master Plan program in aviation history at LAX.

In the advanced planning phase, DMJM Aviation will provide programming and limited conceptual design for each of the master plan elements and prepare requests for proposal for solicitation of design services.  In addition, DMJM Aviation will prepare a detailed implementation plan that includes a logical sequencing and schedule for the work, design standards, and design criteria; and a procurement strategy and plan for major elements of the program, such as the automated people mover, ground transportation center, and an inter-modal transportation center.

The approved master plan enhances airport-wide safety and security, relieves local traffic congestion and mitigates noise and air quality impacts of the airport on the community.

An inter-modal transportation center will link terminals to existing metro rail systems and provide parking.

Provisions are made for a potential, future ground transportation center that would reduce vehicular traffic in the central terminal area.

An automated people mover will link a rental car facility, the inter-modal transportation center and ground transportation center with the central terminal area.

The airport has initiated an early start on a program to reconfigure a portion of the south airfield complex and add a center taxiway to improve ground operations and safety on the airfield.
